the power of nightmares: the rise of the politics of fear
synopsis: i wish i could find a trailer for this one! one of the best documentaries ive ever seen. a three hour BBC documentary on the rise to power of two powerhouse groups: in america: the neo-conservative right; and in the middle east: the fundamentalist muslims. they are both groups brought up from the failure of liberal dreams. they both are strikingly similar in why they exist and what they want to see the world return to. this amazing deconstruction of some of the most extreme political groups there are, and what went wrong with both of them.

synopsis: “when war is that profitable, youre going to see a lot more of it.” its like lenin said, “who benefits?” this film aims to find out who really does benefit from modern war, and why they seem to have no remorse for war as the means to another profit.

hacking democracy
synopsis: a lady from renton, washington, sticks it to diebold. is electronic voting secure? obviously not, and something needs to be done. when the evidence of the real votes is destroyed, and we have no proof of a ‘reality’ of the voting system, do our votes really count? are we still really living in a democracy. by the looks of it, no. (i wish this movie would have focused on what our other options for voting systems are, other than diebold.)

to a lesser extent, id also like people to watch this next film as well.
this film is not yet rated
synopsis: who rates movies? should these people be held accountable for their ratings? why does ultraviolence pass with a PG-13 rating and a few second shot of pubic hair need an NC-17? is this really all about the children or is it really all about the censorship? for those of us who would really like to see censorship tossed out the window, someone finds these answers. (funnily enough, due to using a scene that was cut from “team america: world police”, the film recieved an NC-17 rating. so obviously, context does not affect the ratings system.)
