A Plea for Comments

For a few years now, we here at The Institute have tried to network with others on the internet with similar interests. The whole idea was to build an international community of copyriot theorists (with a little bit of crude humor thrown in), yet everyone seems to be on their own little island — or worse, they constitute a flourishing multitude of conversation with us being the excluded remainder. We rarely (and by rarely I mean like maybe once or twice) get comments from those not directly associated with the site. What up with that? If you read us, let us know you’re out there. If you find something on the site offensive, let us know. If you’re some corporate shill that wants to promote your own stuff, hell, that’d be a drastic improvement over no interest whatsoever. Is there anybody out there?

EDIT: We seem to get quite a bit of traffic from Amsterdam(n). Why haven’t you invited us over yet? You know how much Americans love your country. Yet, you keep it all to yourselves. Selfish Dutchmen.

ok, im once again redesigning the website. im switching back to wordpress because its zoomed past textpattern in terms of functionality. give me a few days and things will settle in.

hokay, so its getting pretty close to illop.com being renewed again…

like dangerously close. 25 days and illop.com is gone if i cant scrape together the cash to renew it.

i would have had ample funds to renew it, but ive been sick as fuck for the past week, and i missed a lot of work because of it, so im really short on any extra money for anything, let alone renewing the site.

we have 3 options, two of which are probably viable solutions, and one of which is probably beyond our total means

option 1: 3 month renewal for $29.85
option 2: 6 month renewal for $53.70
option 3: 12 month renewal for $95.40

while option 3 is the best for the site, its probably most outside of our means. im hoping we can pull option 2, and if all else fails option 1.

i know at least five people including me check this site semi-regularly.

if each of us five jerks pitches in 10 bucks, we can renew the site for six months.

if you do feel like your hard earned cash is worth keeping illop alive for, send it here to my paypal account as soon as humanly possible.

spam holocaust

tonight i learned a large amount of the traffic to my site has been generated by spambots. i kind of already assumed this, but there was something being infected mercilessly i had forgotten about.

back when i first set up this site, i also set up a forum for the site, and apparently it had been spammed to hell in the last year since i completely forgot it even existed.

in cleaning up that travesty and trying to trim down the data on the site to clear up some space i nearly totally destroyed illop.com. the theory of why it broke and why it now works again doesnt make sense to me. but i fixed it somehow, and its back to normal.

well, then i added image verification to the comics page.

so, hopefully there wont be any spam anymore, and i have renewed zeal at the idea of creating a forum again. theres at least six of us reading this, im sure we could create a forum…. maybe.

i have resurrected the ‘search’ function because i couldn’t remember whether or not i had posted the ‘washington’ music video (see previous post) before, so i added it so i could search instead of having to browse all the archives.

anyway, search to your little fuckin hearts content.

i feel like the site needs a redesign again, but im also feeling completely uninspired.

EDIT: thanks to a contribution from the loving loins of e. ryan small, i have been able to afford a six month renewal of illogical operation. with luck, ill have sufficient resources to renew on my own in six more months.
